Why are my images not showing up?There are three possible reasons why SAWYER's Flashcard Generator will not load your image file. Is your image large?

Is your image large?Files that are large in image area, width and height, or file size, storage memory, will slow the Flashcard Generator to the point where it appears as if the images are not loading at all. Flashcard Generator is loading the images but at a significantly slower rate because of their size. When this happens, please be patient with Flashcard Generator and wait until the image loads before creating or modifying a Flashcard. For better results try resizing the image to a smaller size within a paint program. An ideal range is between 200-300 pixels for the width and height and 72 dpi for the resolution. |

Are you using a JPEG image?Images found on the Internet can come in many different file formats—the most common are TIFFs, GIFs, PNGs, and JPEGs. SAWYER's Flashcard Generator can only load JPEG images, files ending with the extension of ".jpg". Fortunately, JPEG images are the most widely used file format on the World Wide Web for its trueness to the original source and its superior compression standard. However, there are times when even a JPEG image will not load into Flashcard Generator. This happens because the JPEG file is saved with progressive encoding. For more information on what is progressive encoding, go to "Is your JPEG file using progressive encoding?" If your image is not saved as a JPEG and you would like to use it within SAWYER's Flashcard Generator, you must first open it within a paint program, then save it as a JPEG file. (Don't forget to add the ".jpg" extension on the end!) |

Is your JPEG file using progressive encoding? While SAWYER's Flashcard Generator can load JPEG images, there are times when even JPEGs do not load. If the image's file size and image area is not large and the JPEG image does not load, the image has progressive encoding. Progressive encoding places special instructions within the file that tells the browser how to show the image as it loads. Each time the browser scans through the image's data the browser displays a clearer and sharper image. Despite this, progressive JPEGs are rarely used because of their slow acceptance within software programs. If the image you would like to load into Flashcard Generator uses progressive encoding, you must open it within a paint program and then save it as JPEG with different encoding. |
